PETERSON Lilburn & Son more industries would be encouraged to locate in town, says the .Koseburg lie view. A few days ago a sales man for a large Eastern concern called on Mr. Lilbtirn with a line of brooms at very attractive prices. He was informed that Lilburn and Son carried only a small stock of brooms and that the grocery stores sold most of the brooms. But, said the salesman, "you can afford to i feature brooms at the price . I offer them." "No," replied Mr. Lilburn, "I could not afford to feature your brooms at the price you offer them or less. Rose burg has a bro'im factory, and as long as they are making brooms I will handle them, even if the price is a little higher." After satisfying himself that there was no hope of Belling to Mr. Lilburn, he informed , him that, while he had tirooms to sell and that it was his business to sell them, he could not but ad i mire a merchant who had the pluck to back up his home enter prise, even at a loss to himself. If every nicrchant in Roseburg, said the salesman, would push Roseburg made brooms the same as Mr. Lilburn, the factory would be running to its eapacley and even If the pvices were high er than others the town would bo gainer In the long run and there would bo fewer Idle men.
