Experiments With the Moon and 8 tars and a Hand Qlata. A pretty experiment can be made with a band mirror any night when there Is a full moon. Bold tbe mirror so that tbe moon's Image will be seen In It and you will be surprised to see four moons Instead of one. On moon will be very bright, but tho other three will be In a straight lino and quits dull, one dull Image on the side of the bright mooa and tho other two on tho other side. Turn the mirror round slowly, still holding Its face to tho moon, and tbs reflections will seem to revolve round a common center. Too ran make the same experiment with one of the very bright stars, such s Elrlus, Venus or Jupiter, but with these there will be three Images In stead of four, as tbe number seen de pends on tho breadth of the object Tbe explanation Is Cjulte simple. There aro two surfaces In tho mirror, one to front and tbe otlie where the quick silver Is. Tbe brightest reflection conies from the object Itself, the others are what are known ns secondary im ages reflected from the front to tbe baik of the mirror and thence to tbe eyo. The magic mirror never fails to excite n good deal of wonder, and is an Interesting experiment well. Lon don Chronicle, Lovely Landscape.
