Another Pioneer I Passes Over " Died at her borne one mile north of Toledo, of pneumonia, comroli cated with old age, March the 9th, Mrs. William Dundon, aged 85 years 4 months and 5 days. She wbs born in Rock Island, Ohio, in 1828, was married to William Dun- dun in 1850 and came to Oregon in 1865 and to Yaquina bay in 1867, and located on a homestead near Toledo where Mrs. Dundon lived continuously for more than 45 years. , Six children were bcrn to Mr. and Mrs. Dundon, four boys and J two girls, two sens and one daugh-v ier arts uuw living. lur. Dunaon died twelve years ago, and siace that time Mrs. Dundon has lived with her son, Alcnzo. Mrs. Dun don was a pioneer and wt s familfcr with the privations and hardships incidental to pioneer life. When Mr. Dundon came to Yaquina bay the country was a howling wilder ress. inhabited by Indians and wild animals. The elk, deer, bear and mountain cougars were plentiful. The rivers and bays were full cf salmon and covered with gees--, ducks and other fowl. It wa3 a hunter's paradise. Amid these surroundings Mrs. Dundon raised her family. She hebed to clear the ground and lay the foundation fur their future home. The funeral services were con ducted by Rev. C. R. Ellsworth. It was one of tha largest funerals ever held in the ccunty. Pioneer friends frcm all over the surround ing country being present.' She was buried in the the Toledj cem etery Tuesday afternoon. The pioneers are rapidly passing away and socn all will have crossed thy great divide. Dr. Carter delivered a short ad--dress to tha pioneers at the rern ttery. C. . - . .
