Tellef Tellefson and family of Yaquina passed through Tuesday morning enroute for Albany, where they will make their home. The Leader will follow them into their new home and keep them posted on the progress of Lincoln county. Large numbers of Fair visitors have visited our office this week to inspect the typesetting machine and watch it in o Deration. The making of newspapers is something very few people understand, but still is very interesting to all. Visitors are always welcome at this office and we will do our best to enter tain them and to initiate them into the mysteries of type lice, etc. A. E. Brooks of Steptoe. Wash ington, was a Toledo visitor the first of the week. Mr. Brooks has sold his farm in Eastern Washington and was looking over this county with the intention of locating. Before leaving he called in and in formed us that he was well pleased with this section and in all prob ability would settle here as he had a place in view which just suited him. "The biggest noise the world has ever heard," is expected to be made all along the Pacific Coast from British Columbia to Panama at the time the last rock barrier in the Panama Canal is blown cut and the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans are united. Arrangement arc being made to have the news flashed instantly to every city on the Facitlc Coast when the final blast is exploded and it is the in tention to have every wheel in each town stopped for a few minutes while bells, whistles and every known noise-making device compete in the production of noise. As soon as the loose rocks and debris can be removed from the canal after the explosion, which is ex pected to take place October 10, the canal will be open to the pas sage of vessels although the official opening will not be announced for several months. City Billy Alexander is again assistipg in J. S. Akin's store. Hon. A. B. Clark of Elk was a Fair visitur yesterday. T. F. Kershaw of Newport was one of the Fair visitors yesterday. Ches Morrison and wife of Elk Citv were taking in the Fair yes terday. 1 Louie Fuller of Siletz called in Wednesday and subscribed for the Leader. We noted Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Grant of Harlan among the ' Fair visitors yesterday. Gardner and Peterson havo i- stalled a drinking fountain at tie corner of their hardware store. The Corvallis band arrived Mon day evening and has been furnish ing excellent music all this week.' Joocph Blower of Newport was up to the Fair yesterday. Reforo returning hume he called in and paid us another year's subscription. Valentine Ihiel of South Jeacli has been here this week taking in the Fair and looking after hbjuroo erty interests. Of course he re newed his subscription to the Lou der. Our people are to he cnncrratl ated on the way they cleaned uv for the fair week.
