Fire Destroys Old Courthouse Saturday morning the livery barn belonging to Gust Olson at the cor ner of Hill and Fifth streets burned to the gronud with all its contents, with the excerjtion of the hems which ware gotten out. The fire was discovered at about half past four by both A. L. Jacob son, who lives near the barn, and Grant Hart, the watchman at the sawmill. Mr. Jacobson at opce rushed over and liberated the horEcs and drove them out, while Mr. Hart gave the alarm, by blowing the mill whistle, and also made pre jarativ'ps to protect the lumber piles and the mill from the fire. Members of the fire department responded at once to the alarm, but the building was aflame from end to end, it being only thirty minutes from the time the fire was dis covered until the walls fell in, so tbey directed their efforts to saving adjoining buildings. The efficiency of the fire depart ment and Toledo's new water sys tem was superbly demonstrated as the adjoining buildings are very close and were afire again and acain. but throucA the untirine efforts of the fire fighters the loss waa confined to the one building and its contents. This building was built about twenty-hve years ago to be used as town hall. Think all pacers should do so." We have been censured by a very few for following this policy, but we believe it is the best plan, and saves much annuvance, and besides, it is obay ing the postal laws. And. again, when a subscription expires and we notify the subscriber of the fact and he does not renew, we think he docs not want the paoer longer, and we certainly do not want to force it onto him. We hate like the dick ens to lose a subscriber, but we woul rather lose a dozen than to know we were sending the paper to a person who does not want it. mum Launch Transit.
