the roughness of the ocean. These
drills are given outside the regular

supplied with long range repeating

close to the place 'where the sea

opened a general fusilade in the
direction where the lions should
have been. At least 500 shots
were fired. When the smoke clear

were found killed and nothing else.
To a person not familiar with such
a noise he would naturally think a

the country. Each hunter that
fired claimed the honor of killing
the little lione, but it is really not
known who did kill them. This is
the breeding ground of the sea

not many of them are there. But
the day was fine and if the party

Don't Want
Schoolhouse
Rose Lodge, July 15th.
Editor Leader:
Here at Rose Lodge we really
have some people who do not care
whether we have a schoolhouse or
not as it proved to be tho case on
the 12th inst, at the special school
meeting held for tha purpose of
obtaining a little more money to
complete the building cf the r.ew
schoolhouse in district No. 43. The
clerk read to the voters present at
this meeting the sDecifications. the
builder's contract and also lumber
bill and proved to the voters that
the school board is still short of
about $384 in order to have the
schoolhouse completed, a six mill
soecial tax would have to be voted
All present voted and when the
votes were counted there was a
majority of three against the
special tax, or more clearly stated
there were 10 names and 7 -yes.
That settled the question of getting
any more money. Besides this some
of the good voters said they will
never allow the school board to use
the money they already have on
hand ($522), and that they will
stop the board from completing the
schoolhouse which has already been
started. Isn't thi3 good news from
Salmon river?.
Yours truly, Scr ibe.
