Baldwin Fairchild was in the city last Saturday evening, enroute to his home at Siletz. He had just completed a year's sentence at the Federal prison on McNeil's Island. Leonard Johnson of Lower Siletz was in the city the first of the week, as a witness for Leo Bate man, who made final proof on his homestead before County Clerk Howell Tuesday. Mrs. Curbbert of Portland and Miss Fay of Sacramento, California, were- guests at the Gardner home for a few days. Miss Fay is princi pal of the grammar schools in her home city. They departed on Wed nesday's train. L. C. Fox came over on the Sun day excursion train for a visit with his wife, who is visiting her par ents here. Lou is now located at Corvallis where he has the position as operator on the C & E. He re turned to Corvallis Monday. We are glad to note that our old friend William Mackey is able to be out once more. Mr. Mackey fell and broke his hip April 21st and has uince been confined to his bed at the home of ' his daughter, Mrs. J. J. Gaither. He made his first trip down town last Saturday. The Executive Committee of the Lincon County Fair Association, consisting of C. S. Davis, president; C. O. Hawkins, J. C. Dixon, L. C. Smith, Mrs. Nellie Gaither and Mrs. Alice Waugh. met in executive session on the 14th, appointed all committees and made permanent arrangements for pulling off the most successful Fair ever known in Lincoln county. With the larue state fund for premiums, a flying machine for three days of the Fair, a good race track, the OAC pro fessors to judge all exhibits, and the school work united, insures suc cess. All the executive committee were present except Mrs. Birdie Wil liams, who was away at Portland. The following regular committees were appointed: Sports W.E.Simpson. Elk City; R. H. Howell. Jack Bellany called in the fiist of the week and handed us a dol lar and a half for a year's subscrip tion and ordered an ad in the Lea der. Conibear and child ren and Miss Hatch left Tuesday afternoon for Mill City, where Mr. Conibear is located. Mr. and Mrs. Conibear have resided in Toledo the past eight years and have made many friends while here. The Leader will follow them to their new heme.
