Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hemstreet
of the Lower Siletz were in the
city Wednesday, on their way to
Portland. After a visit in that
city Mrs. Hemstreet will go to
Br'inwick, Missouri, where she
will visit her parents during the
remainder of the Winter.
At the meeting of the City Coun
cil Tuesday evening levy of five
mills was made to raise money to
defray the expenses of 'the city
during the coming year. Three
mills of this is for the general fund
and two mills for the water fund.
Last year the Levy was six mil's.

SILVER WEDDING
ANNIVERSARY.
The 25th anniversary of the
marriage of Rev. and Mrs. F. S
Clemo was -observed on Monday
evening, December 9, 1912, at
Woodmen Hall, this city. It was
in the nature of a surprise to the
interested parties. The members
of the official board of the M. E.
church, learning of the date tf
their marriage, resolved to tender
them a reception and social.
A large number of people assem
bled at the hall. A few ladies ren

uerea an impromptu musical pro
gram and the young people indulged
in popular games. About 11
o'clock the pastor and his wife were
requested to "stand up" and Prof.
George Bethers. in a few well chosen
words, stated the object of the
gathering, then Rev. C. R. Ells
worth, abbreviating the marriage
vow to suit the occaoion, pro
nounced them man and wife,' then
presenting them with a purbe of
silver. Congratulations were ex
tended by those present, with well
wishes for another quarter of a
century of happiness. Refrseh
ments were served by the ladies to
ail present.
F. S. Clemo and Elizabeth Will
iams were united in marriage De
cember 8. 1887. in England. They
have been in the United States since
1889, going from England to Mon
tana. Rev. Clemo entered the
ministry in Montana iti August,
1892, and was transferred to the
Oregon conference of the M. E.
church in September, 1901, They
have a host of friends in both
states. Rev. and Mrs. riomn nA
family came to Toledo in October of
this year, where Rev. Clemo as
sumed charge of the local M. E.
church. Under his management

attendance at church and Sunday
school is increasing and our people
are well pleased with his excellent
work. .

of the caunty of Lincoln, state of
Oregon, in the Methodist church at
Siletz, on Saturday, December 14th,
1912, at 1 o'clock p, m for the
purpose of voting a special road
tax upon the real and personal pro
perty of said road district for the
year 1912.
