Robert R. Miller announces him self as a candidiute for the nomi nation of Assessor cn the Republi can ticket. Mr. Miller is a gocd man for the position. He is well qualified. He is a young man of exceptionable ability. He has fol lowed the real estat3 buoness for years, which taught him land and land values. Since coming to Lin coln county eight years ago he has followed farming and school teach ing. He and his family have re sided at Nashville on his farm. During the rainy season he has taught school in many of our dis ricts, and he is now teaching the Yaquina school. Mr. Miller his always been an active Republican and is ever identified and takes part in all public matters. He is a stu dent, as his record cs a teacher shows. During the teachers' ex iminition a year ago he received the highest average of any in the county ttking- the examination. He is also a talanted musician. All of these prove that Mr. Miller is not an idle man He ii a worker and wo jld mak? a good Assessor. In thio issue appears the an nouncement of Frank Newton of this city, who seeks the nomination on the Republican t'eket for the office of Joint Representative for Lincoln and Polk counties. Mr. Newton needs very little introduc tion to the voters of this county. He hes teen a resident cf the ounty since 1907. He came from Oregn City to thi3 county and re sided on a homestead on Upper De p.t slojgh. After making final p oof on the homestead he and his wife moved to Toledo, in 1909, nher: he, with" his partner, Mr Nye, bought the hardware bjsiress in thi3 city, which they ha e b:ei conducting ever since. Mr. New ton is a thc.rjugh business man, ii interested in all public matters and takes an active part in all such matters, lie :s a young nun, act ive and progre-sive. He served in the 9th United States' Infantry in fuLa, tl)3 riiillinpin?s and in China, s serving a total cf nine vears and three monMis. lie made a good soldier, is a good citizen end busi ness man, and can be trusted to faithfully serve the counties he would represent i i the Legislature.
