Lingenfelter, President, j Grant Hart went to Portland yes-! terday morning to consult an occu-', list. Some time ago Mr. Hart got some sawdust in his eye which has been causing nim much trouble. The state-wide movement to in terest pum'ls of the public schools in gardening and poultry raising is to receive the support and encour agement of the leading officials of the Portland school system and of thirty-five principals of city schools. In addition. President Kerr of the' Oregon Agricultural College, has 1 pledged the support of that institu-' tion. It will have bulletins distri- buted to the principals, teachers ' and pupils of the schools. Officials j of the Portland Y. M. C. A. j reported that last season more than j 300 gardens were planted by the school children of Portland, most j of them in the back yards of the thickly settled sections of the city. The interest in the movement this year will result in a great increase over the number of gardens planted in 1911.
