Fish returned last even ing from a several days' visit at Portland. The County Fair begins 'Tuesday, morning and lasts until.Friday even ingSeptember 5, 6,7, 8. Mrs. Robert Andross departed yesterday for Denzer, this county, where she will teach school, her school beginning Monday. Mr. Andross will follow at once and ex pects to secure employment in the mill at that place. Mrs. Ray Shupe and sister, Miss Retta Waer, arrived from Portland last Tuesday evening. Mr. Shupe met them at Albany. They will re side in the old Soule cottage on Second street. Miss Waer will visit with her sister the remainder of the summer, at least. The friends of Mi . Mr. and Mrs. James Morgan left yesterday afterroon for their home at Moro, Eastern Oregon, after a visit with A. W. Morgan at this place. The County Court has signified its intention of appropriating $250 for premiums for the county fairl This is a good move on the part oi the Court, and the act will be approved by every citizen of the county. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Copeland of Ohio arrived last Friday evening for a visit with Mr. Copeland's cousin, W. C. Copeland and other relatives. Salem, Oregon Edward Fuller ,the 18 year old son of Harvey Fuller, formerly of Nortons, Oregon, but now of Napa vine, Washington, was drowned in the Newakum river six miles south of Chehalis, Washington, on July 29,1911.. The young man was in bathing with a younger brother and some friends and was seized with cramps and in spite of being an excellent swimmer was drowned. N. Fuller, a brother, and several other men tried to rescue the drown ing youth but he struggled so des perately that they were forced to lose their hold to save themselves. E. B. Hamilton a farmer living near dove and brought Fuller to the sur face but. all efforts to resusticate him were of no avail. He was laid to rest in the Mount Hope Cemc terv. at Salkum. Washington, his boyhood home. He leaves to mourn his loss a father and mother, two sisters, Mrs. S. K. Burg of Aber deen, S. D. and Mrs. Niels Andersen of Kernville, Oregon, and seven brothers.
