James Kent has Ijecti appointed
Deputy Sheriff for this end of the
County. The first papers ha served
were in the Five Riven district.
The Condor came in the 14th over
a smooth bar and is taking out a
load of lumber. .
Mrs. M. J. Tyler has" purchased
the stock of the Jenkins' store and
will carry on the business.
It is announced that the Wald
port Lumber Company will replace
the buildings and machinery lost in
the recent fire.
William Wann, of Grants Pass
has been spending a few days at
Waldport.
Collector of Customs O. V. Hurt
visited usj last week. v
W. H. Daugherty made a trip to
Newport last week returning Mon
day. Miller Brothers brought in about
fifteen hluidred feet of water pipe
the last trio of the Condor and will
pipe water A their home from a fine I
spring.
Ten ofhqers will lc elected at the
coming city election. They consist
of a mayor, recorder, marshal, treas
urer and six aldermen.
Kernville.
The, boat was in last week. Now
all the stores have a good supply of
provisions.
We have been having some cold
weather and plenty of snow. The
mailcarrier from Grand Ronde to
Otis found the road over the moun
tain almost impassable with snow
and mud.
Charles Larson moved back home.
Charlie Bays it is too cold to live
down at I'armele's.
The telephone company lias its
wire now. Suppose we will soon
hear the hello-girl call.
The seats have come for the new
school houses up the Siletz.

We are all glad to see the snow
disappear and the rain come.
C. R. Evens has been repairing
and changing telephone lines in Bay
View this week.
Mr. Yorke returned home from a
trip to the Valley last Thursday.
Mrs. S. M. Me Willis spent a few
days last week with friends in Wald
port. Albert Oakland returned home
from a few days stay at Olsons.
Mr. Hanson was down from Drift
Creek Saturday.
Burt Twombly was a Beavor Creek
visitor the first of the week.
Siletz Dramatic Club.
At the meeting held in the Read
ing Club parlors last Saturday after
noon the Siletz Dramatic Club was
formally organized. The following
officers were elected: K. C. Eg
bert, President; Miss Claudia Mc
Donald , secretary-treasurer ; Miss
Elsie Raddant, Robert DePoe and
C. S. Davis committee on enter
tainments. It is the object of the
Club to give a monthly programme,
musical, farcical and dramatic.

for appropriation for Lincoln County
Fair, granted, and an appropfiat'ori
of 0250. ordered to apply on pres
ent indebtedness as committee may
direct.
Petition of John Yeason, for re
bate of taxes, granted.
Whereas, James H. Ross, Ira
Wade, and John Fogarty, formerly
Sheriff, Clerk and Commissioner,
respectively, of Lincoln County Or
egon, retired from office; January 1st,
1U11, after a number of years each
served as such public officials of
Lincoln County Oregon, and retired
voluntarily, to make way for other
desesving citizens respectively to fill
such offices, they severally deeming
it fitting and proper to have a reason
able degree of rotation in office un
der our elective system, and
Whereas, each of said officials has
maintained a high degree and stan
dard of efficiency in his office, which
has rebounded in a large measure to
economy in public affairs, to the
gieat convenience and satisfaction
of the public generally having bus
iness relations with Lincoln County,
and reflecting on themselves a high
degree of credit for their unfailing
devotion to public business and the
interests of the taxpayers and com
munity at large, as is also evidenced
currently by expressions of com
mendation and approval in the pub
lic press of Lincoln County Oregon,
and by many expressions of appro
val from citizens and taxpayers
throughout the county, therefore,
Resolved, that it is the sense of this
court, that the thanks of the court,
and of the community at large are
due to each and every of said retir
ing officials, and that this court
hereby expresses its approval of
their public service while in such
office.
Resolved, that all su.pp.ies order
ed by county officials are to be au
horized by some member of the
County Court.
At this time came on to be heard
the report of J. H. Wilson Attorney
at Law and Accountant, heretofore
appointed by the court to make an
examination of the books and ac
counts of the County School Super
intendent, Clerk, Sheriff and Treas
urer, relating to the handling of
county funds from November loth
l'J07, the date of the report of W.
H. Moore, Accountant, to January
1st, 1011, from which it appears to
the court that this examination has
been made'properly, by Mr. Wilson
in person, and that his report sets
forth in detail the sources from
which county funds have been col
lected, the amounts thereof, and
their deposit in the treasury, as well
as a total statement, independently
obtained from the vouchers and ev
idence thereof, of the disposition ot
such funds by the treasurer, and
showing a balance in the treasury on
January 1st, 1511, of 815,370. oti.
all of which money is on deposit in
the Lincoln County Bank, Toledo,
Oregon, in the name of G. B. Mc
Cluskey as Treasurer of Lincoln
County, Oregon.
And it appearing to the court that
Mr. WilsOn has well and faithfully
performed this service for Lincoln
County, and in careful, professional
manner, and to the satisfaction of
the county court.
It is therefore ordered by the
court that said report he accepted,
and placed on tile by the county
clerk, and that it be copied in full
upon the journal of this court.
It is further ordered that said Re
port be approved in substance and
in fact.
In the matter of the report ot W.
E. Ball, report from timber owners
on cruise. Keport approved, reso-
lotion adopted by vote of Commis
sioners Kentta and Thompson,
JudKe Gardner voting "No."
