Alexander returned from W'ainic, Eastern Oregon, last Saturday evening. She ,was ac companied, by her little grand daughter, Marjoiie Tillotson, who will remain here this summer. C. S. Davis of the Fair Committee informs us that he is in correspon dence with several attraction com panies regarding shows and other attractions for the coming Fair. Our people will have good amuse ments" during the Fair. , The Ross, moving picture theater opened for buisness last Saturday evening. The house was packed to the limit for several hours, and good i crowds have been attending every show during the week. Our people appreciate a good show. Unlorumate clnklren of the city, j in whose lives there is too little sun- i shine, were given a treat this week, when Portland automobilisLs gave the use of their cars for rides about I the city that were much enjoyed by the children. Wards of the Boys' and Girls' Aid Society, the Chil dren's Home, and the People's In stitute were the'reecipients of this outing and it was a happy bunch of children that toured tbe city in the big autos for two hours. Toledo 18; Newport 14. A big crowd went down to the Resort City last Sunday to see the ball game between Toledo and New port. The wind blew u gale, at times the pitchers werenlninst blown out of the box. The teams were well matched and the score would have been a close, low one but for the wind. The high score of IS to 14 docs not give justice to the teams. A return game will be played here next Sunday. Ease Ball Sunday, Newport vs. Toledo, To ledo ground. Game called 2 p.m. 1 Setter go. A good bill at the moving picture show this evening. The steamer Truant will run an other excursion to Newport next Sunday. Mrs. F. J. MoElwain went to Portland Saturday morning to join her husband. Henry Burns of Ralhdruni, Idaho, arrive 1 the first of the week. He will remain in Toledo this sum mer. Mrs. Wardren departed Wednes day morning for Vancouver, Wash ington, near where she has been assigned the pastorale of a church.
