This matter is of general impor tance to the voters of the county, and we would appreciate it if you could lind space for the insertion. Very truly yours, 8. G. Irvin, Secy Commercial Club. Resolved, That for the general information of the voters of Lincoln county, that the several candidates for the oflice of County Judge and County Commissioner be requested to state in the public press, at an early date, their plan for raising and expending the county funds especially in the building of roads and the betterment of the public schools. Again we notice the Newport cor respondent for the Oregonian has In en having bad dreams. This time it is concerning the strike at the Fir & Srr uce Sawmill here. If fiero has been a strike at the mill it is news to us, as the mill seems to bo running daily with a full crew. We admire our friend 's abil ity to rustle news for his home town but we lx.'lieve when he attempts to give Toledo's news he would be more able to give facts if ho would investigate conditions or leave To ledo's news to the regular corres pondent here. Another thing we notice is that this same correspon dent cannot forget the spasm lie had some months ago because most of the county officers are residents of Toledo. Certainly they are re sidents of Toledo. And as long as the courthouse is located in Toledo it is almost certain that a majority of the men holding the c. vnty of fices will be residents of this place. When this county is cobwebbed with trolley linos and cars are run ning to the county seat from every direction every few minutes, per haps some of the officials will reside at their homes and coine to town on the car each morning to attend to their official duties. But that time hasn't arrived yet and our ofiioere will continue to reside at the county seat during their term of oflice, at least. RED FRONT BLACKSMITHSHOP F. W. CARSON, Prop.
