Davis have each purchased one of those acre lots of J. F. Stewart, and are clearing them preparatory to build ing residences thereon this Summer. Miss Hattio Gillette-went to Cor- vallis Monday morning to visit her sister, from there she will go to Portland and select her Spring millinery stock, wh'ch she expects to have here by the first of the month. She and Mrs. E. M. Stanton have rented the store room In the Haw kins building, and will open up a millinery store therein. C. M. Doutt who owns the old F. M. Mr.Janies who is one of the boosters of North Bend, also steamship' agent, will re ign his position tht fifteenth of this month and move with hi family to this place. Miss Viola Gannon returned to Newport last Saturday evening. Merchant Henry Lewis returned Friday evening from a visit to Port land. Preaching next Sunday morning and evening af the M. E. church.
