Waldport Items.
Six new members have joined the
Commercial Club since last meeting.
Considerable fencing is being done
on the Keady place west of town.
Dr. Linton is building a scow
seven by twenty for the purpose of
hauling supplies for his store.
M. S. Durbin, local forest ranger,
returned from a business trip to
Portland Thursday.
Mrs. Mary A. Gault visited Mrs.
Holgate at Lutjens several days last
week.
Miss Sharman, who is to teach
school in the south end of the
county, arrived on the 14th.
J. I Wolfe came down from the
Yachats Monday with his brother
who has been visiting there.
B. Stoward was in town on
the 14th. This was his first trip
for some time owing to ill health .
Telt Burnett and John Hyde ar
rived Saturday and went on to the
Yachats country to look after some
timber.
Frank Day has bargained for the
Anderson place one-half mile south
of -town on the county road.-
J. R. Hays came in with his
family on the 15th. He came by
team down the Alsea valley.
Mrs. Jenkins arrived on the 14th
with a fine line of new spring hats,
and has been doing a good business
in disposing of them.

Mrs. Harry Hoy, formerly Miss
Bobell, came up from Marshfield
last Saturday to visit relatives and
friends in Waldport.
Mrs. Mollie Early returned Mon
day from a week's visit at Corvallis
and other Valley points. ' She re
ports a pleasant trip, but like all
Alsea residents, was glad to get
home.

DISTRICT.
Ill the County Court of the f-tate of Oregon,
for the county of Lincoln.
To the Honorable Court:
We the undersigned, your petitioners, allege
and show to the Court: That the lands here
inafter described ar. tidu and overflowed
lands, subject to overflow by the tides at all
seasons of the year, and by freshet nnd tides
during the wider; that in their prexent con
dition Ihey are not susceptible of cultivation
to any appreciable extent, and can only b.
ued in a limited way for pasture, during the
times the tides are not over them ; thnt by the
reclamation of said lauds, the taxable value
thereof will he increased more than the cost
of the reclamation, and that It will be for the
general good, as well as greatly to the profit
and advantage of the owners of said lauds
that they be reclaimed by diking; that we art
the owners of more than one-half of the w hole
acres ge of fid lands, and more than one-half
of the Individual owners thereof; that we
represent mure than one-half of the area of
the lands embraced therein: that it Is de-ired
to forma diking district for the purpose of
improving by diking or damming the landa
contained therein. Th.i.iore, we respectfully
petition the Honorable Court to create a dik
ing district, as by Statute made and provided,
embracing a portion of the following described
lands, towit: The nej and neJi of sw.'i of
sec. 26, the ei of swJ4 and ti of sec. 23, and
the ni; and al of section 24, all in township
11 south, range 11 west of Willamette Meridian
In Lincoln county. State of Oregon.
The dike and right of way therefor to run
substantially aa follows, to-wit: Beginning at
slake marked X-l at a point In the tte'4 of (he
neJi of sec. 26 on the north bank of " Booties
Slough" (or sometimes known hs Mill 4 slough)
about 10 rods west of the section line between
sections 25 and 26, vhere the tldelaml joins
the highland, running thence westerly and
northwesterly along ill. north bank of said
slough, through the sj of the ne4 and the
neli of bc 26, thance through th ne comer of
the ne'i of the swJi of section 26 to the section
line between sections 26 and 23: thence In a
northerly and northeasterly direction along
the east bank of said slough through the
south half and sw of nej of section 2:1 to a
stake marked X 2, set at point of hilt where
lldelnnd Joins the higher ground; thence In
easterly direction to a stake marked X-3 placed
at a point In th. ne of section 23, where tide
land joins the hill land; thence in easterly
direction around the bus. of the hill and edge
