A GOOD GAME AT
NEWPORT SUNDAY
Yaquina 'Wins the Game by
Score of 5 to 0.
In an exciting game last Sunday
afternoon the Yaquina football team
defeated the Newport team at the
latter place by a score of 5 to 0.
Yaquina's score was made in the
first minute of play and it looked
very much like they would be
"nothing to it" for Newport and
that Yaquina would roll up a big
score. Newport took a great brace,
however, and played so good a de
fensive game that Yaquina was un
able to score during the remainder
of the game. Most of the playing
was done in Newport's territory,
the ball being ou their G yard line
when time was called at the end of
the first half and in about the same
position at the end of the last half,
in Yaquina's posession each in
stance. Newport's team was newly, or
ganized having lost some of its best
players by the departure of the
soldiers, fincc the Thanksgiving
game with Toledo. Yt q lina, two,
has lost two good men in Emmer
ick and Karnes.
For Newport, Davis, quarter,
"Sharkey,'' halfback, and Aupper
ley, full, played good football.
Cronise and Woods were easily the
stars for Yaquina. Hawkins and
Iloeflein of Toledo-weie the officials.
On account of lack of space we will
have to omit the lineup.
