number of hobOCS carrying band
instruments who seemed to come
in from all directions. They fin
ially succeeded in collecting at one
place and rendering some excellent
music. They then paraded the
streets and afterwards furnished
music for the sports consisting of
a hall game, tug of war, etc. Fire
works were begun at nine o'clock
but unfortunately only a few pieces
had been set off when a spark fell
into a box of roman candles, sky
rockets, bombs, etc., and things
were made lively for those on the
scow for a few minutes. The en
tire outfit was destroyed and the
exhibition brought to an abrupt
close but all were satisfied when it
was found that nobody had been
hurt. The grand ball given by the
band closed the day and as usual
was a drawing card. A noticeable
thing was the entire absence of lie
quor on the grounds during the
celebration. Our people are cer
tainly living up to their vote.
