Oregon. A committee was appoin
ted to formulate a schedule for a
uniform scale of prices for all kinds
of job work and advertising to be
adopted by all newspapers in tlie
State. Associations are to be
formed by newspaper men in every
county.

of the Forest Grove Times, having
purchased the interest of his partner,
W. T. Fogle. Mr. Parker is an
able newspaper man and will un
doubtedly continue to publish one
of the best weeklies in the State.

filed In thin office by Henry A. Hosteller, con
testant, auainst homestead entry Ne. 14to5,
made July 31,.190-J, for the sej section 25,
township 8 south, range 9 west, by Harl Ho
cum, contestee, In which it is alleged that he
is well acquainted with the tract at land em
braced in the homestead entry, and knows
the present condition of the same; also that
said Harl Hocum has wholly abandoned said
land, and especially for the last six months;
that ho luia never resided upon, and made
said land his home te the exclusion of a homo
e'stwhttre, but hai Ieen living at Tacomit
Wash, since making said entry, and has made
only occasional visits t said land for short
periods at very long interval; that the im
provements on said land are very poer and
meagre, and no cultivation has been made
thereupon; and thatsald alleged absence from
the said land was not due to his employment
in the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps of th
t'nlted States as a private soldier, officer, sea
man or marine, during the war with Spain,
or any other war in which the United States
may be engaged, said parties are hereby noti
fied to appear, respond and offer evidence
touching said allegation at 10 o'clock a. m.
on January 8th, 1908, before the Raglster and
Receiver at the United States Land Office at
Portland, Oregon.

affidavit, llled December 2nd 191)7, set forth
facts which show that after due diligence
