and Mrs. Henry Flood, by mistake,
gave their 12 year old son Clarence
a dose of strychnine, instead of
quinine, causing his death in a

the quinine bottle contained both
quinine and strychnine.
General Stoessel, the erstwhile
hero of Port Arthur, has been
stripped of his laurels, as it has been
found that he could have delayed
the surrender of ' Port Ann" ur for
some considerable time after he did,
as he had a considerable amount of
ammunition and provisions. Some
times it doesn't pay to be a hero.
The Oregon State Fair opened
Monday with a good-attendance
considering the weather at the time
of opening. From all reports the
Fair is the biggest ever, and the
attendance promises to be the
largest - iu the history of the
Association.
Coos county has all at once
awoke to the fact that they can
rcise just as good fruit as Hood
River. How would it be for all of
