The convention of the Oregon De
velopment League at Portland, June 21
and 22 will be of unusual interest to
ever part of Oregon, trs it means "a
pull all together" for the eutire state.
Lincoln county should on represented
by representative, enthusiastic business
men and farmers. Especially attractive
to the latter will be the live stock show.
The day of scrub cattle in Oregon is
fust disappearing, and Lincoln county
stockmen should be ambitions to con
nect with all the valuable pointers
m ithiu reach.
San Francisco aud the surrounding
country got another shake-u p between
12 aud 1 o'clock Wednesday. While no
M'lious damage resulted, they were
properly panic-stricken for a few min
uies. v Some people would rather be
scared to death in California than live
in peace and die of old age in Oregon. .
. ,
Dr. Harry Lime, Democrat,, was re
elected Mnyor of Portland by a plurality
of m T!;? other City officials, except
one councilman, are Republicans, and
they were elected by big majorities;
Mayor Lane is said to be indulging in
sweet dreams, in which figure the easy
shoes of Governor Chamberlain.
. Attorney-General Crawford holds
that the referendum petition or, the
University of Oregon impropriation is
"fatally defective," in that it does not
contain "a full and correct copy of the
measure," as required by law."- Next.
Too bad!1 There, isn't a Republican
in Portland w ho is-morally or mentally
fit to be Mayor of that city.
Do Not Neglect the Children.
At this season of the year the first
unnntural looseness of a child's bowels
should have immediate attention. The
best thing ihat can be given is Cham
berlain's Colio, Cholera and Diarrhoea
Remedy followed by cantor oil as di
rected with each bottle of the remedy.

A doctor was called to the house of a
lawyer. Sally, the hired girl was sick
nbed. When the doctor was alone with
the girl, she said: "I am not sick at
all, but Mrs. owes me three months
wages and. I will stay in bed till she
pays me." "Will she pay?" asked the
doctor. "Oh sure, she has come down
with the casb before." '.'Make room for
me," said the doctor, "she owes me Jiist
one hundred dollars."
