Andy Porter's surveying gang passed
through this morning, having reached
Newport, with the preliminary survey
down the coast for the Jim Hill rond
Tho road has been located only as far
south as Tillamook. 'Mr. Porter and
his men have been out since last iep
tember.
The Portland Journal tells a little
story about an Oregou hen which
hatched out a brood of chickens in two
weeks, claiming that the feat breaks all
records for time. But it doesn't. ' Mrs.
J. F.Stewart of this city recently placed
a duck egg under a hen, just to afford
the hen a. little amusement, and three
weeks later biddy camo off the iiebt
with a downy little duckling. This
beats the average time for. hatching
'tucks by one week..
