Judge Parker, the Democratic? nomi

The Judge lias evidently received a

silvern, but silence is golden," and will
offer Bryan and himself as proof.

Word was received here that Super

ding, Cal., Thursday to Miss Mary J.
Smith, a pupil in the school since 1895.
The announcement occasioned great
surprise, as neither teachers nor pupils
weie aware of the romance progressing
under their very eyes. The ceremony
took place in a parsonage at Redding,
which is'the nearest railroad station to
the bride's old home. The bride was
given away by her brother, Jumes
Smith, who is an employe at the Che
mawa school. Her sister, Alice, at
tended her as bridesmaid, and the
young woman's mother and step-father
were witnesses. After the ceremonv
and a wedding supper at the hotel, Mr.
nud Mrs. Potter left on the Cverland
for San Francisco. From there they
will go to Mr Potter's ranch at Albany,
Col., after which they will visit the
World's Fair at St. Louis.
The bride is a charming young wo
man, who has endeared herself to her
schoolmates nnd teachers during her
htity lit the institution. She is about 18
years of ago and has been prominently
identiiled with Y. W. C. A. work at the
school. She is a quarter blood Win-
tone, and her home was near Redding,
Cal. So would have graduated in two
years.
Superintendent Potter is well-known
in the state nnd throughout the the In

TO years. For the past 18 years he has
been in the service in some capacity or
other. Ho began his work m Indian
Territory. From there he went to Car
lislo School, where he was employed ns
a teacher until he was promoted and
nivon a superintetidency. It was in the
early '00s th.it Potter began hiscHi'eer
as superintendent of an ludiun school.
He was at Fort Toteu, N. D., and later
at Cherokee, N. C. At this latter place
be met aud married his first wife, an
Indian woman and the daughter of a
powerful Cherokee chief She was
famed throughout her section of the
