CHITWOOD ITEMS.
Aunt Margaret Chitwood is gradually
recovering from her serious illness.
J. li. Chitwood, late from South Da
kota, is here visiting friends and rel
atives; also Mrs. Turuicliff of Mill City,

Chitwood of Damascus, Or.
A. L. McDonald, county stock in
spector has quarantined all the sheep
in the community against the disease
which ho calls "wild fire," although it
is rather lute, as about all the sheep
have recovered from it and are all right
apparently. But it is all right to be
cautious.
The meeting of the Farmers associ
ation last Friday night was a success.
The subject up for discussion was
"What are the most profitable grassos
to raise in this county." All seemed to
agreo that the common red clover is the
best for the dairy. Alsike clover for
hay is good' also sand vetches do well;
timothy hay the best for horses, and
the mesqtiite for a pioneer grass, to be
sown on fern laud, is without a peer, as it
seems to bo a natural broduct of the
coast countries, and is a very good
grass. After the discussion iu which
tho county judge took part, a short
program was offoied in which several
recitations and solos were rendered
with good effect. Tho lust (but not
least appreciated) on the procram was
a pie supper, which was freo for all,
and all seemed to enjoy themselves and
returned to their homes happy with tho
exception of two or three kids who got
to much pie.

ago. Every thing burned. There was
