not conquer. She will be 80 years old
in February, and, because of her great
age, has announced her retirement
from the position of President of the
National Asocial Ion of Woman Suf

been connected either as President or
Vice President since 1800.
Susan B. Anthony began to teach n

a teacher, doing much to make the pro

professions. Then she took up the
work of tmperance, and for two years
devoted all her energies to It. Then
she became convinced that without the
ballot woman was powerless to change
present conditions. Since t'flem she has
been the one leader In tnat cause.

The Issue of Collier's Weekly for
Mav 26th is strongly tinctured with a
political flavor which makes it aa ad
mirable preliminary to the two conven
tions at Philadelphia and Kansas City.
The special article by Senator Frye, of
Maine, is a clarified summary of legis
lation for which the Fifty-sixth con
trress is responsible. Senator Frye's
position as president of the senate gives
this article an ex cathreda tone that is
most convincing. No other man in the
United States is qualified to prepare so
moderate and unbiased a synopsis of
the winter's legislation. The idea of
political activity is further carried out
by Henry Loomis Nelson in his judicial
article on the issue of imperialism.
Mr. Nelson is qualified by his ripe ex
perience to handle the delicate subject
of territorial expansion in a way that
must bring true liht to every con
scientious American.
