Charlie Read is preparing to build
a new barn.
Everything is quiet. Haying is
now the order of the: sunshiny

vSiletz swallowed up several of
our people about July 4 for celebra
tion purposes, and we haven't heard
of them since, and now the ques
tion is "where are they?"
The certificate of appointment
hns arrived authorizing a new post
office. A. S. Thompson is post
master. This office is located near
Salmon river, and its name will be
Otis. Web.

multitude of friends unite in con
gratulations to the newly married
couple.
Elder Rich of Clackamas county,
representing the Disciple church,
preached at the Chitwood school
house last Saturday evening, Sun
day at 11 a. m. and again in the
evening, starting for home Monday
morning.
The dampness of the weather
through last month and the first of
this has retarded haymaking so that
much of the grass is about ripe,
and now the farmers are rushing
the work with a will. Farm hands
and mowing machines are in de
mand, and many are compelled to
cut their grass by hand.

Gus Olsen of Rock creek was
in to spend the Fourth and look
after his West side property.
We understand X. J. Leabo has
traded for property on the Wot
side and will move over there soon.
Y. M. Envin of Si'vcrtou came
in Tuesday to look alter his prop
erty and shake hands with his
many friends.
The naptha launch Ani'.a of Pott
laud came in Monday for cannery
supplies for Kernville. She is a
nice looking boat.
Mrs. Ida Patterson come in Mon
day from Coburg for a short visit
with her fa titer and nioiher, Mr.
and Mrs. C. Iloefkin.
Master Lloyd Pruett was recently
the happy recipient of a deed to 140
acres of land from William M.
Iloag. We were glad to learn of it,
for the little boy was crippled in a
railn-ad accident in which Mr. Iloag
was interested.
