There is a new swindle being
sprung in the country. It takes
three persons to make it work, not
counting the sucker. A man dresses
to represent a clergyman, drives up
to a farm house and requests the
privilege of remaining over night.
Before the hour of retiring comes, a
man and woman drive up and re
quest to be directed to the nearest
minister as they desire to be mar
ried. The pretended clergyman
volunteers his services joins the
couple in the bonds of wedlock and
the farmer is asked to sign his name
as a witness. Shortly after the
signature bf Mr. Farmer turns up
on the heavy end of a promissory
