more than many white boys would

Joe Turnidge is looking for a
pony with longer legs than the onej
he now rides. His pony is a I
crack-a-jack, but so short legged I
that Joe's feet drag in the mud all j

Jack Porter, Newport's popular
steak carver, wended his way to
Portland Tuesday to collect moneys
due there and to procure the aid of
a dentist. He experienced much
pain from his molar before starting.
Attorney Charles E. Hawkins
was a busy man Wednesday, being
the referee before whom the evi
dence in the Allen against the
Bellamy colony is heard, and hav
ing also a hand in the Stimpson
Logan case before Referee Carson.

Januaty 6, 1899, at 10:30 p. m.,
W. H. Logan, of pneumonia
superinduced by an attack of la
grippe', aged 83 years, 4 months
and 20 days.
Deceased was born in Kentucky,
August 15, 1816. Moved to Ore
gon in 1862. He was the father of
sixteen children, eleven of whom
are living. These with the w ife of
his later years are left with a host
of friends to mourn his departure.
The lat sad rites were admin
istered by the Rew.E. H. Bryant,
and he was laid to rest in the Toledo
cemetery.
