Brown, C M Wilhoit, S J Nortons Notes. Fine weather at present, and we all enjoy it. Mrs. A. L. Porter, of Sugarloaf, Polk county, is visiting her sister, Mrs. H. S. Porter, of this place. Oscar Budd and family have moved into the residence of A. L. Porter, where he will stay until he gets a house built on his ranch. Lloyd Sherk went to Salem last Saturday, to attend school. His brother Earl is teaching at that place. Born To the wife of Oscar Fanno, at Sugarloaf, Polk county, on January 1st, twin boys, at least this is what dame rumor reports. Our merchant, Mrs. Branscombe, is busy selling out her store at cost, and will start next week for British Columbia, where she'will make her future home. We are sorry to lose such a good neighbor and merchant. Tht dances Christmas and New Year's nights at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Porters was attended. Polk and Benton counties were well represented. There was about forty couple present Christ mas night and about twenty-five New Year's. All report a first class time. A. K. Sherk, our postmaster, is busy getting out fencing to fence his place. He had the misfortune to lose about eleven acres of pota toes by the recent cold weather, in Marion county. There will be a dance at Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Porter's on February 12. Mrs Porter will furnish the supper and Mr. and Mrs. Mart. Glass, of Big Elk, will furnish the music. This will insure everybody that attend a first-class time. All are invited that like to trip the light iantastic. Dear editor, ye scribe believes in reform, and believes in everything selling for what it is worth. If you will have the county court cut the pi ice of manage license down to one dollar it would be a good thing, as I think there would be several marriages around here and then there would be something to write about.
