We have received several com
inuiiiealious concerning the indict
ment of the Jobs nud Davis, lhese
communications are all sensible,
forceful and entirely void of objec
tionable features, and yet we are
constrained not to publish them for
this reason: The Lkadhk felt that
its solemn duty was to expose as
much of the rottenness of that affair
as came within its knowledge. This
it did and a grand jury of seven
honest and true men assisted by the
prosecuting attorney, one of the
ablest attorneys in the state, have
vindicated our course and indicted
the parties in the case. The mat

probity and integrity we have im
plicit confidence. We believe that
tl, nrniwpd will have a fair and

impartial trial mid it is not our de
sire to say any thing that might be
construed by the defense to be an
attempt to create a prejudice against
them. For this reason the Li'.ADKK
desires to say nothing more at pres
ent.
