Ford Sent Crn.slilntr Into Hank nt
Sharp Turn In Itoml to Escape
Collision Wltli StaRe Car.
Collision with a heavily liden
Cadillac stage car at a sharp turn,
on the Coqullle road about six r.:llrs
from town was averted by a matter
of Inches last evening when Wilt
Goodrum, driving a light Ford ca
and accompanied by D. K. Lawyer,
deliberately turned his car into a
tteen hank. The machine "reared"
back, throwing Its occupants to the
ground and under the Cadillac.
Only the quick shutting off of the
pow6r by driver Fred Slaglo saved
tho two men from being ground to
death Doth escaped practically in
harir.cd. The Cadillac was dented !n the
body and the wind shield of the
Ford was broken though the rnr
came back to town under Its own
power.
'There worn nine passengers lj
tho stage car returning about seven
o'clock from Coqullle. Driving at
a moderate rate of speed they sud
denly saw Will Goodrum turn the
corner at a fairly good gait. Good
rum eays It was 12 miles an hour.
So closo were they that Goodrum
was unable to shut off his power
before ho turned his machine crash
ing Into tho steep bank.
His quick decision probably sav
ed tho lives of himself and com
panion. To the left was a steep
embankment and straight ahead the
heavy Cadillac loaded.
Tho Ford was righted In a hurry
after tho men scrambled out from
underneath and camo on homo ns
though nothing had happened.

-HNS GOOD TALENT
DIRECTOR OF MOOSE PLAY HAH
MA UK DISCOVERIES
.1. W. Mott, Who Will Produce
"llioun of llnrviitil," Praises
Iicnl Talent.
Mr. James W. Mott, who Is di
recting tho well-known college piny
"Drown of Harvard,", which the
Moose will present here by local
talent next Monday nnd Tuesday,
June 14 nnd 15, claims to have
made several Important discoveries
In his senrch for dramatic material
for the cast of tho forthcoming cdl
lego play. This search took him
among other' places to the recent
high school play. He watched the
performance very closely, nnd pro
nounced three of the players to he
possessed of something closely nkln
to genius In the matter of acting,
and he straightway drafted the trio
Into the all-star "Drown of Har
vard" cast.
One of these local players Is Ru
dolph Hlllstrom, who will play
"Tubby" Anderson In the big Moose
pioductlon of "Drown of Harvard"
next week. You will hear more
about Hlllstrom before the play
comes off. The director's predic
tion will suffice for tho present;
that this young man Is going to
create the biggest dramatic sensa
tion next week that a local audi
ence ever witnessed.
The part of "Tubby" Is as famous
as tho play Itself. "Drown rf
Harvard" without "Tubby" would
bo like "Tho Rivals" without Uob
Acres. It has tho distinction of
being the only long part In any
comedy which actually contains more
laughs than there arc lines In the
part. Hlllstrom seems Just natir
ally to have absorbed the character
and made It a part ot himself. !1
you want to see tho most lttmous
comedy part over written played by
a really romarknblo comedlun, you
must see Rudolph Hlllstrom as
"Tubby" In "Drown of Harvard"
next Monday.
Tho price for "Drown of Harvard"
will ho fifty cents for any seat
and no higher. This Is tho lowest
price over charged for this produc
tion, but with It tho Moose expect
to fill every scat at both perform
ances. Tho scat salo will open nt
the Dusy corner Saturday morning,
Juno 12, nt 0 o'clock.
