Engineer nucklnghain stnted that
ho did not think there was much
likelihood of this as he said the Port
that ho did not want to fight the case,
that he would simply leave It up to
the Council.
Straw said that was what he want

to make a recommendation about the
matter, and suggested that it be left
for a committee of the Council to de

saying there was nothing for a com

completed at Kruno &. Hanks' yard.
The Lawrence Porter Is lfiti feet
long, ten feet longer than the Fred

unloading device with a ninety-foot
boom stick. She draws about ten
feet loaded.
Coming out In the Uoscoe they took
soundings and found a minimum of
thirteen feet on the Sluslnw bar two
hours before high tide. Tho channel
has shifted about a mile as a result
or the Jetty extension and the bar Is
now very short.
.1. P. Porter snld there was nothing
new In the railroad work. A. E. Por
ter Is his cousin and had charge of
about twenty-live miles or construc
tion along tho Sluslnw. Ho says they
have linlshed the work there. No ar
rangements have been made for doing
anything except the tunnel work be
tween Coos Hay and and the Sluslnw
this winter.
The Lawrence Porter took a hold
full of general merchandise and Is
