To meet relatives whom he did not know he had wns the novel experi ence of Dan 11. Keating, Chief of the Marshlleld Firo Department, who has just returned from attending the r.nnunl convention of the Pacific Coast l ire Chiefs' Association at Tacoma. The Convention honored .Mr. Keat ing by electing him Vice-President for Oregon, The convention next yenr will be held at Vancouver, H. C. About ninety fire chiefs from all points along the coast were pres ent. During the convention, the Tacoma firemen nnd their wives extended many courtesies to the visitors, tak ing them out for'a trip to ,Mt. Ta coma. During the conversation with Mrs. Chantler, wife of a Tacomn tire marshnl. who was on the recept ion committee. Mr. Keating discover ed that she was a cousin. From her he learned that a brother of his wife's father, Mr. Httshlln. lived nt Peattle.
