The condition of the sewer
on North Front street is rapidly
becoming a menace" to public
health. The stench that arises
from it is something that is al-
most intolerable at times. It is
plainly the duty of the public
health ofllcers or someone else

G. J. SCOTT of McMinnvIIIe, Oregon,
is looking over the resources and
prospects of Coos Bay with a view
to locating here.

R. O. Graves is at work on securing
the rights of way for the Coos Bay
Boise Railroad. He is working on
the route between Myrtle Point and
Marshfield. A good deal of the prop
erty is owned by non-residents and
it takes some time to get replies, but
with those who are residents of the
county, Mr. Graves Is having no trou-
I ble In securing the rights of way.

for several weeks, have returned.
Tho Methodist Episcopal Home
Missionary Society met yesterday at
the home of Mrs. Edgar McDaniel.
An excursion will be given for Dun
can Hendry, at tho Sand Hills this
evening. Mr. Hendry leaves soon for
Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard ot Toronto,
Canada, arrived Monday by way of
Drain to visit their daughter, Mrs,
Chas. Cavanaugh.
Mrs. Henry I. Rels, Lloyd and lit
tle daughter, Gladys, who have spent
several weeks visiting relatives near
Portland, have returned.
Carl Jennings of Portland, who has
been the guest at the Robert McCann
home, left yesterday on the Break
water. This is his first visit hero for
seven years and he noticed a great
change In the towns.
