The cpeclal fiftieth anniversary
services at tho Swedish Lutheran
church Sunday afternoon were largely
attended. A good portion of the
North Bond Lutheran church also
being In attendance, besides several
families from the country, especially
North Inlet. Addresses were deliver
ed In English and Swedish by the
pastor, in which was given the early
History and development of tho Au
gustana Synod (theSwedish Evangel
ical Lutheran church of America);,
with Its many colleges and academies,
orphan homes, hospitals, deaconess
institutes, homes for the aged, Im
migrant homes, Institutions having
sprung up in all parts of the country
as a result of translating a living
faith in terms of every day useful
ness. Fifty years ago April 24, 1SC0
the decision was reached at a ses
sion of the congregations assemblod
at Chicago, which virtually was the
begin?ilng of this church body which
in June of the same year in adjourn
