To San Pedro. The Nann Smith
will sail Wednesday or Thursday for
San Pedro Instead of Bay Point. This
is her first trip there in several
months. She will take out about
800,000 feet of lumber. Owing to the
big cargo, the slings could not be
used in loading this time, and it
takes longer.

MRS. McLKOD'S STATEMENT.
To the Editor: I beg space in your
publication to correct an article pub
lished in your ftaper of Saturday last,
entitled: "Trouble Over Street. Dif
ferences between city and Mrs. Mc
Leod may delay work."
You say "J. W. Dennett, acting
for Mrs. Frances McLeod, sought to
stop the Improvement of North Sec
ond street," etc.
The fact Is that Mrs. McLeod does
not own any property or have any
share in any real estate on this street,
therefore has no interest in this work
except as a taxpayer in this city.
Of the number of statements made
in this item there Is not one scintilla
of truth in any of the assertions and
this fact was no doubt well known
by the party who furnished you the
item.
J. W. Bennett is not acting for Mrs.
McLeod in the North Second street
matter. She has no Interests there.
Mr. Bennett also says that ho had
no conversation with anyone in re
gard to the matter as published by
you.
The statement regarding the $400
is also incorrect, and carries with It
about as much truth as the rest of
the article.
