Bandon today reports that the Dis
patch, tho Coqulllo river boat, was

bar Monday night with a largo niim-j

around, ho says, tho craft was
caught by tho swift current and high
wind and-curried down against the

MARSH FIELD.
Notice Is hereby lven that on
Tuesday, the 7th day of December,
1909, there will be held at the City
Hall of the City of Marshfleld, Coos
County, Oregon, a regular general
election, for the purpose of electing
a Mayor to serve for the term of two
years; for the purpose of electing
two members of the Common Council
to serve for the term of three years
each; for the purposeof electing one
member of the Common Council to
servo for the term of one year; for
the purpose of electing a Recorder
for the term of one year; and for
the purpose of submitting to the le
gal voters for their approval or re
jection "An Act to amend the Char
ter of Marshfleld, Coos County, Ore
gon, so the Council of Marshfleld
i shall have power to grant franchises
for street and other railway pur
poses without petition of the owners
of property abutting upon the streets
occupied thereby; but, subject to
the right of the Council to refer the
ordinances, granting such franchise,
to a vote ot the people of Marshfleld,
Oregon, before they become opera
tive, and to the right of the people
to demand the 'referendum' thereon
as provided by law; and, providing
that such ordinances shall not be
come operative until Thirty Days
afterflnal passage," and for the pur
pose of submitting to the legal voters
of said city for their approval or
rejection "An Ordinance granting to
J. M. Blake, his heirs and assigns,
the right to build, maintain and oper
ate a railway system upon Front
Street North, Front Street South,
Broadway North, Broadway South,
and Kruse Avenue East in Marsh
field, Coos County, Oregon, to be
operated by electricity or other
mechanical power except steam, for
the purpose of carrying passengers
express, baggage, mall and freight,
and 'requiring grantee to handle, haul
and switch cars or trains of carsof
railroads over his tracks at such uni
form and regular rates and under
reasonable regulations to be fixed by
said City of Marshfleld."
The said election will be held be
tween the hours of Nine O'clock A.M.
and Six O'clock P.M.

and A. G. Aiken have been heretofore
by the Common Council of said City
appointed as Judges of said election,
and F. M. Frledberg, C. A. Pennock
and Roy Lawhorn as Clerks of said
