The Coos Bay Times represents a
consolidation of the Dally Coast Mall
and The Coos Bay Advertiser. The
Coast Mall was the first dally estab
lished on Coos Bay and Tho Coos
Bay Times is its immediate suc
cessor. Official Paper of CoosvCounty.
THE JOY OP LIVING.
I"N THE SIMPLE philosophy of
y Chas S. Hilborn, Coos Bay's old
est citizen, who Is now Hearing his
ninetieth year there, Is a message
for tho youngsters who have not yet
sighted their seventieth milestone
End have grown weary of the world
and Its troubles.
Charlie, his friends call him Char
He, and age cannot alter the affec
tionate regard they hold for him and
that prompts this familiar terra of
endearment. Charlie came across
the Bay the other day from his home
among the flowers and fruits and
trees where he and his estimable
wife Hv6 and love, and laugh, and
enjoy life together, and Dr. Straw
took him up to the Mlllicoma Club
to show him the advancement Marsh
field has been making. Other friends
, met him there and one wished him
another ninety years of life.
"I don't know that I want to live
for ninety years more, but I do not
want to die; not because I am afraid
to, but because this Is a good world
full of good people. I am happy, the
sky is blue, tho birds sing. Why
should I not want to stay?"
Why Indeed? Perhaps if we all
paid a little more attention to tho
songsi of the birds, gave more heed
to the sunshine, the flowers and the
blue sky, there would be more octo
genarians and a greater volume of
testimony that this Is a good world
full of good people.
