Notice Is hereby given that on
Tuesday, the first day of December,
1908, there will be held at the City
Hall of tho City of Marshfleld, Coos
County, Oregon, a regular general
election, for the purpose of electing
two members of the Common Council
to' serve for the term of three years
each; for the purpose of electing
one Reeordor to aorve for the per
iod of one year; and for the purpose
of submitting to the legal voters of
said City for their approval or re
jecting, an ordinance to amend S"
'ion 110 of the Charter of said City
to increase tho limit of lndebteduc
to five p3r cent of the assessed vn'
tition of tue property within the cor
porate limits of the City; and f"r
the purpose of submitting to tlin
legal voter3 of said City for tholr
npproval or rejection an ordinance
to amend Subdivision 34 of Section
28 of the Charter of said City to

Bonds of said City not exceeding the
sum of $42,000.00 payable In not less

type. It has been very difficult to se
cure copies of the bill, nearly all. at
torneys desiring them. Judge Wat
kins is indebted to Congressman

Loggh Is Appointed. Peter Log
gio of North Bend, has just received
his credentials as a delegate to tho
Rivers and Harbors meeting at
Washington, D. C, December .9 to
11, inclusive, he having been ap
pointed by Gov. Chamberlain as one
of the men to represent Oregon. The
meeting Is a very Important one as
Its actions will have a prominent
bearing on the Harbors and Rivers
appropriation bill to be enacted at
the coining session of congress. It
is likely that the North Bend and
Marshfleld Chambers of Commerce
will unite to see that Mr. Loggle
t;oes.
Boost Vale Congress. The Marsh
fleld Chamberof Commerce is in re
ceipt of circulars being sent out for
the meeting of the Oregon-Idaho
Development congress to be he'.d in
Vale, Ore., December 17, 18 and 19.
Coos Bay harbor Is one of the pro
jects that the ocngress is boosting,
and It is hoped to have this section
well represented there. Col. Wm.
Grimes will bo one of the number
who will go from here. E. M. Helgho
of Welser, Idaho, vice-president and
general manager of the Pacific and
Northern Idaho Railway, and a great
railroad builder, will be there as will
other prominent railroad men.

gram announcing the death of his
father, Charles McColIum, at Sausa
llto, Cal. Death followed a long ill
ness, Mr. McColIum having been
compelled to give up his work a year
or more ago. For years, ho held a
responsible position In the Hlbernia
Bank of San Francisco. t

ColIum, purser on tho Breakwater,
another son, makes his homo on
Coos Bay. C. F. McColIum leaves
