Editor Coos Bay Times: I notice
your remarks in the Saturday even
ing Time3 regarding views and stand
ing of candidates for municipal of
fices, and in order that the voters
of this city may know where I am
at will say.
If I am elected for councilman on
December lst, I will stand for all
Judicious improvements of the .city,
bearing in mind at all times and see
ing to it that tho property holders
who pay for the same, get one hun
dred cents worth of Improvements
for a dollar.
I will stand for reduction in the
Tunning expenses of the city gov
ernment and increase of its revenue.
With the view of reducing tho
city's debt without bonding its
property, I will stand for paying tho
old est city warrants first or in other
words commence to pay from the
Tight end, with a view of reestablsh
ing the credit of the city, raising the
value of its warrants, and giving
everybody a square deal.
I am in favor of listening to the
firemen's wants, and of Improving
tho service by procuring such addi
tional hoso and other apparatus ne
cessary for proper flro protection.
I am decidedly against bonding
tho city for current expenses.
I am in favor of opon and public
meetings of tho board, and not in
favor of granting any franchise af
fecting tho rights of tho city except
after due notlco to tho citizens and
vlth tho sanction of tho general pub

to say: That while I have lived on
Coos Bay the best portion of my life,
I have been attending to my own
business, and never mixed up in
politics, but since I am up for a pub
lic office, I deem It my duty to the
voters of Marshfleld to tell them
whether I can fill the"ofrice"if elected,'
for which I have been nominated
Will say I am qualified to perform
the duties of the office without the
assistance of a deputy; and if elected
I will see that the duties of the of
