Steamship Sailed Today For
Columbia River Port Other
Vessels Sail.
The Alliance sailed this morning
for Portland with a largo number of
pssengers anda fair cargo of
freight. The rough seas which have
been causing navigators more or less
bother for sometime were not In ori
dence this morning, a number of
vessels crossed out. The M. F.
Plant did not get out until today
and tho Fifleld, laden with lumber
from the Smith mill sailed for San
Francisco with a number of passen
gers. The Wllhelmlna also sailed for
Dandon today.
Mrs. Olson accompanied Captain
Olson down this trip and Purser
Brown declares that she will soon be
able to operate the vessel without
the captain's aid, but it is not likely
that she will replace him for awhile
at least.

Gets Fish Eggs. Superintendent
Smith of the government fish hat
chery1 on south Cooa River reports
that as a result of the recent heavy
rains, many salmon have made their
way up tho stream. Consequently
he has been able to secure several
million eggs.
Sells Stage Line. Walter Miller
sold tho Wedderburn-Corbin stage
line to George B. Miller, who will
take charge the 1st of December and
make Wedderburn his home in the
futuro. We understand that Walter
Miller will remove to Coos county.
Wedderburn Radium.
Launches On Rogue. C. R. Mil
ler is remodeling and installing a
two-horse power engino in Wesley
Miller's boat. From all appearances
It' looks as if it would bo a speedy
craft. Gasoline boats are getting
quite numerous on Rogue River,
there now being nine all told. Wed
derburn Radium.

Business Will Be Suspended
Generally For Greater Part
of Thanksgiving Day.
Thanksgiving will be observed In
the usual way on Coos Bay tomor
row. Business generally will be sus
pended at least during the afternoon.
In the morning, special services will
bo held at nearly all of tho churches.
In tho way of amusements, tho
football game between tho North
Bend and Marshfield High School
teams at North Bend at 10 o'clock
In the morning will attract many.
In tho afternoon, the hose races in
Marshfield between the North Bend
and Marshfield fire departments will
be a feature.
In tho evening, the Margaret lies
Company will play at the I. O. O. F.
Hall under the auspices of the Marsh
field Aerie of Eagles. There will
also be an old fashioned dance at
the Rink.
Of course, there will be numerous
small private parties, family dinners,
etc., to make it a feast day.
