Chas. Harrington, the restaurant
man, had two of his fingers pretty
badly mashed one day last week.

E. N. Harry was In from- Sltkum
on Thursday and was without his
crutches this tiem, having sufficiently
recovered from his lato Injury by al
lowing a rock to fall on his foot some

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Johnson, of
this city, departed for San Fran
cisco Saturday where they will spend
tho winter. Mr. Johnson will look
aftor the lumber market and take
care of that end of the business for
tho mill.
J. P. Tupper returned tho latter
part of tho week from a trip down
the coast wheie he went to visit with
his granddaughter, Mrs. Kenneth
Perkins, nee Miss Jessie Tupper for
merly of this city. He' enjoyed his
visit very much. He took with him
two nice presents for Mrs. Perkins,
ono being a nice driving horse and
buggy and the other a fine gold watch
Bridge seems to have carried off
the honors this timo in fistic encoun
ters on election day. H. C. Bryant
and Jim Slinger met on that day and
proceeded to thrash out a quarrel
that had been started soveral days
previous with tho result that Mr.
Bryant came out considerably worst
ed. Mr. Slinger was brought before
the justice of peace and fined $37.50
for his trouble.

was transferred from tho Elizabeth
and her engines put on board, was
brought up tho first of tho week and
her machinery is no wbelng put in

ity that tho laborers holding checks
against the Larson Lumber Co., will
not lose their wgaes as first reported
but that thoro Is 2,000,000 feet of
logs In the McCormac boom at Marsh
field and that the men's wages will
havo to como out of them. The com
pany aro doing everything in their
power to effect a settlement and pay
off the outstanding debts.
