new officers of the Salvation Army
will conduct their first salvation

City Council Tonight. Tho
Marshfield city council will meet this
evening. It is possible that tho pro
posed of naming and numbering the
streets will be brought up for dis
cussion. A number of street impro
vement matters are to conie up.
The United Stores. Mr. Hussoy
arrived today from Portland to take
charge of tho bankrupt stock of the
United Stores for the receiver. The
stock at this point will be sold In
bulk and not thrown on the retail
market.
To Indorse Candidates. The Citi
zens League will meet at the Finnish
Hall Thursday night to select the
candidates which It will Indorse and
support In the city caucus November
.16 for nomination for councilman
und recorder. As there are likely to
be several candidates for Indorse
ment for the various olllces, a lively
meeting is expected.
Riehe ainkcs Change. F. S. Riebe
has disposed of his stock In tho Pet-tyjohn-NIcols
Company and will no
longer be Identified with the com
pany. , He Is now In Portland visit
ing jobbing houses with a view of
starting business hero for himself.
He expects to return in about ten
days. Mrs. Riebe has gdne to Ash
land where she will spend the winter

avenue, also on California street and
the new city dock. It Is expected
that all the city contracts will be ac
cepted at tonight's meeting of the
North Bend city council.
