posed to stop at Eureka this time,

ports that he has about thirty log
gers working in his Smith Basin
camp on upper South Coos River,
and will keep the force busy all
winter. He has about 2,000,000 feet
of logs ready to send down as soon
as the high water will permit.
Catch Fine Fish. Contractor
Stone this morning was exhibiting a
couple of the nicest trout taken in
the bay this season. They are
known as "Whitesldes," being dark
on one sldo and white on tho other
and closely resemble the largo
mountain trout. They were caught
by a friend of his in the lower bay.

rods are talking of presenting a peti
tion to the Oregon Legislature to
1 enact a law that will prohibit wild
fowl hunting on the bay in gasoline
boats. They claim that tho continu
al chasing of the ducks by the gaso
line boats not only makes them wild
'but by preventing tho birds getting
'a rest and time to feed results in
their migrating to other feeding
grounds.

gentle, gentle tapping that became
almost a knocking, knocking while
he waited a moment and peep

About thirty of the Royal Neighbors
brushed him aside and filed into tho
lodge room while tho astounded
Woodmen were hnstlly putting away
their paraphernalia. The new com
ers Informed the Woodmen that If
they would adjourn, all would par
take of n feast that the Royal Nlegh-
fbors had prepared In the banquet
hall. It Is needless to say that lodge
work was postponed for a week. Aft

Huntley Visits Here. Jeremiah
Huntley was In the city today on
business and visiting friends who
are congratulating him on being ac
quitted by the jury in tho federal
court at Portland where he had been
on trial in connection with the land
fraud case of the Pacific Furniture
& Lumber Company. He expects to
leave the latter part of tho week
for his home at Gold Beach. While
on Coos Bay, ho Is the guest of his
daughter, Mrs. W. E. Tompkins of
North Bend.
