O FISH HOOK HOLDS
UP THIS TRAIN
Catches In Gown of Woman As
She Steps OIV Cars.
NEW YORK, Oct. 16. Prot-
ty nearly everything, from rainy
days to wornout' . equipment,
from time to time has held up
Brighton Beach trains of tho
Brooklyn Rapid Transit, but ono
was stopped at Sands street by a
fish hook.
On a train were several men
who had been fishing. From tho
basket of ono of them as they
stood on the car platform there
dangled about two feet of line,
with a hook attached. As a
well-gowned woman tried to get
off at tho station tho hook
caught her dress, and she went
only as far as the gate. Sho was
tho last to pass out, and the
guards on the rear cars had
signaled to go ahead.
She refused to como back
upon tho platform so that tho
gato could be closed, and for
t'irce minutes the train was
kept standing while a dozen
"butter fingers" tried to get tho
hook out without spoiling tho
drcas Finally ono export work-
cd it loose, and tho train started
again.
