Council Tuesday Night. The
Marshfield city council will meet
Tuesday evening to tako up a number
of street matters.
Hail Operation. Mrs. Moo of
Cooston, who waB operated upon
at Mercy hospital Saturday, by Dr.
J. W. Ingram, is reported to bo
recovering rapidly.
Now North Ilcnd Rank. Accord
ing to a report in business circles to
day, a number of North Bend busi
ness men are planning to organize a
second bank thero. The new institu
tion Is to bo a national bank and to
have ?50,000 capital, It is understood.
Inspect Ferry. Inspectors Geo. D.
Weldln and D. S. Ames of Portland,
arrived this morning to inspect the
now ferry boat which Is to ply be
tween Marshfield and Eastsldo. If
tho boat pa'sses inspection, it will
probably be placed in operation this
week.

Gels More Deer. Wm. Noble re
turned Saturday from another hunt
ing expedition on which he got three
fine bucks. This Is Mr. Noblo's sec
ond trip this fall, and each time he
secured a little venison.
Catch Many Trout. Somo of tho
biggest catches of trout of tho sea
son were landed during tho Inst few
days on Coos River. Mrs. Hodson is
reported to have landed sixty-threo
fine ones the other day and a num
ber from Marshfield made big
catches yesterday.
Newspaper Man Here. O. C,
Letter, city editor of tho Portland
Oregonlan, and one of tho ablest
young newspapermen In Oregon, ar
rived on ho Alliance this morning to
spend a week's vacation in tho Coos
Bay country. Mrs. Loiter was hero a
few weeks ago, having visited a
timber claim which she holds In
Curry county, but Mr. Leiter was un
able to get away at that time. Capt.
Olson and others of tho Alliance's
force, have told Mr. Leiter so much
of Coos Bay that ho determined to
come and see whether they had been
trying to "string him." As tho Al
liance men even in all their ardor
couldn't toll half tho story of Coos
Bay, Mr. Loiter found many surprises
awaiting him.
