Dr. Thomas J. Vox Takes Important
1'urt In Columbia Unhersity Alum
ni Association Meeting.
Dr. Thomas J. Fox, a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Win, Fox of Marshfleld, is
to preside at an Important meeting of
the alumni of Columbia University
at Portland this week. The many
friends of Mr. Fox on Coos Bay will
bo interested in the following article
which the Portland Oregonian print
ed with a half-tone of Mr. Fox:

Association will meet Thursday even

hall of the Knights of Columbus, for

object of this association is to pre
serve a record of Its members, to

keep in touch with their alma mater
and to advance her interests.

City Council Grants Permission to
Organization to Install It On
C Street.
The city council last evening
granted permission to the A. N. W.
club to put in an ornamental foun
tain on 'C street, In front of Staf
foids providing that the city shall
not be liable for its maintenance.
The proposed fountain will be a
handsome one and will furnish water
for horses and other animals as well
as people. It will be put In on the
curb line and an electric globe will
light It at night.
The A. N. W. Club will order the
fountain at once and will undoubted

Temple of North Bend, Purchase
Marshfleld Business.
M. J. Mangan today sold his un
dertaking business in Marshfleld to
Hayes Temple of North Bend and F.
E. Wilson of Sumner. The new pro
prietors will take charge at once al
though Mr. Mangan will remain with
them for a time. The firm name
will be Temple and Wilson. Mr. Wil
son will manage the Marshfleld busi
ness while Mr. Temple will continue
to be in charge at North Bend.
The members of the new firm are
well-known In Marshfleld and
through this section. Mr. Temple
has been interested In the business
for sometime but has remained in
North Bend managing the branch
there. Ho has been a resident of
North Bend for nearly two years and
prior to his removal there was
prominently connected with some of
the largest undertaking firms In
Portland. Mr. Wilson has been a
resident of Sumner for a number of
years and will be welcomed here by
his many friends.
Mr. Mangan will leave Marshfleld
at least temporarily but retains con
siderable property interests here.
While the new firm is welcomed, Mr.
Mangan's many friends will regret
een his temporary absence from the
city.
