IS DISCUSSED
(Continued from Pago 1.)
voters should know what the money
derived from the sale of bonds was
going for. He said that It was es
sential now to submit such a bond
ing proposition to tno voters as
would carry as a refusal on their
part to vote bonds would leave the
city In a bad predicament.
Straw Gives His Ideas.
Mayor Straw said that If they
didn't think there wero enough hon
est men hero to he elected to the
council, they had better vote the mat
ter down. Ho said that ho supposed
thero wqro carpet baggers, anar
chists, etc., here who would oppose
a $100,000 bond-Issue, but that they
would also oppose a $50,000 bond
issue. Councilman Nasburg didn't think
that $50,000 was enough as ho said
that would only pay the present out
standing warrants and wouldn't pro
vide funds to run tho city. How
over, ho said he supposed they could
lssuo warrants again.
Messrs. Dow nricl Sncchl said that
the city's revenue should bo increas
ed so as to pay tho running ex
penses, thnt It wasn't right to figure
on Issuing bonds nil tho time and
keop running Into debt.
Tho long discussion resulted in n
decision to let tho nuittor go over
until today with tho understanding
thnt tho ordlnnnco bo changed so
thnt tho council will not bo authoriz
ed to lssuo more than $50,000 worth
of bonds.
