Seriously Injured. Sam Green, a
miner at Beaver Hill, had his right
arm and leg broken one day last
week by a premature fall of coal.
The Injuries are serious and will lay
him up for some time.
Council Tonight. Tho Marshfleld
city council will hold an adjourned
meeting this evening to take up sev
eral matters. No meeting was held
last week and there Is considerable
street Improvement business accumu
lating. The new sewago system
plans will also come up.
Crushed By Log. Alex Dashny, a
logger at Pony Slough camp, Is laid
up at Mercy hospital suffering from
four broken ribs and a broken right
leg sustained from being crushed
under a heavy log. Tho injuries
while painful are not serious but
will lay him up for some lime.

other day with two of the finest sets
of horns that have been seen here
this season. One set was a result of
John's prowess In tho Tioga country,
where ho killed a magnificent buck.

The two heads were valued at $150.
Mrs, Iliniebaugh Hurt. Mrs. C.
M. Hlmebaugh was quite severely In
jured Sunday morning In the now
Lawhorne building. Sho stepped on
a defective board In tho temporary
floor which broke under her weight.
She was alone at the time and was
unable to extricate herself until
aided by friends about an hour Inter.
Her limb was badly hurt.
Wait For New Boxes. Tho new
boxes for tho Marshfleld postofilce
aro expected in this week and as
soon as they arrive, the remodelling
of the Interior of the ofllce will be
gin. The other fixtures are being
made in Marshfleld. It is said that
when the remodelling Is completed,
tho Interior of the Marshfleld post
office will be as handsome as any of
the offices In the state.
Road AVill Pay Harriman now
has a representative at Coos Bay to
ascertain how near the proposed road
from Drain to that city will pay flyo
per cent on the investment. It is
hoped those Coos Bayltes will bo able
to "show" him that the road will
pay twice the above amount expend
ed. It might not do It at tho start

letter from his sister, Mrs. A. B.
TenBrook stating that Mr. Ten
Brook who has been very 111 of
typhoid fever, is Improving. Tho
Tenprook family resides at Merrill,

ROBERT MARSDEN, Jr., and wife,
have returned from their trip to
Portland and Willamette Valloy
points. Mr. Marsden was unwell
after the long trip and was unablo
to get down town until Saturday
evening.

C. A. Smith mill, left yesterday
via Roseburg for San Francisco to
confer with C. A. Smith and other
managers of the company prob
ably concerning the Bay Point
property. Whether Mr. Oren's vis
it there will change Mr. Smith's
plan of coming to Coos Bay next
week Is not known.
GEORGE II. ROTNOR, manager of
tho Woolen Mills Store, returned
Saturday from San Diego, Cal.,
whero he was called by tho death
of his mother, Mrs. Stella' Rotnor,
a well-known resident of Coos
Bay. Mrs. Rotnor died tho night
boforo her son arrived but she had
boon 'unconscious for several days
prior to her death. The many
friends will unite with Mr. Rotnor
In mourning the loss of tho most
estimable woman,
but the railroad magnate will never
lose money on tho Investment Rose

Lost Ills Vessel. Capt. Hall, who
lost his vessol in tho straits entering
Puget Sound, September 13, arrived
here today on tho Alliance en routo
south. His craft, tho Rhododendron,
a fourteon-ton yacht, was dashed to
pieces and all of tho crow except
himself were drowned. This was
the fifth shipwreck for him. Ho Is
en routo south where ho plans to
build another craft. WhUo hero, ho
called on local members of the G.

Bay represented by a big delegation

ranch and are tho result of an ex
periment which Mr. Bealo madfa to
prove tho fallacy of tho claims of
somo that peaches couldn't bo grown
on Coos River. Tho peaches aro
largo, ripened perfectly and havo an
oxcollent flavor. Tho Times can at
test to tho last statoment as a result
of a box of tho "heautles" left at
this office. Thoy wore "peaches."
Among tho many pleasing features
of tho Baptist entertainment Tuesday
evening will bo a recitation by Miss
Pearl Watkins, "Olo Mlstus," that
won for her tho Gold Medal at tho
Intorscholastic Oratorical Contest at
