Coquillo Repaired. The old
schooner Coquillo has recently been
repaired and Is now being operated
In the lumber trade between the
Sluslaw and San Francisco.
Ruises Bin Porker. A porker
weighing 504 pounds, dressed, was
brought in from Julius Larson's
ranch on Haynes Inlet tho other day
and attracted much attention.
Erects New Building. H. C. No
ble is moving his Broadway resi
dence back to the rear of the lot
and will erect a business building on
tho site formerly occupied by the
house.
New Fog Signal. Capt. Pond, in
spector of this lighthouse district, is
investigating tho advisability of plac
ing a fog signal on tho Port Orford
reef near Cape Blanco. Mnrlners
have often expressed a wish for a
fog signal there.
Loses Coal. While coming down
from Catching Inlet, with a scow
containing twenty-five tons of coal,
John Wall had tho misfortune to
overturn his load In the Bay, near
the cold storage plant. Tho coal was
from the Newcastle mlno, and of
course was a total loss. The scow
was raised.

Greenwalt and W. Little of Portland,
aro walking from tho Rose City to
Coos Bay and aro hunting and fish
ing en route. They aro making tho
long trip by easy stages. They pass
ed through Florence a fow days ago
and stated there that they wero hav
ing a delightful trip.
No Council Meeting. Owing to
tho Inability to secure a quorum, no
meeting of tho city council was held
last evening. Councllmen Lockhart
and Nasburg wero attending court at
Coquillo and Mayor Straw did not
show up. Tho other four members
of the council wero present but wore
unablo to transact any business.
Builds New Dredge. Herman
Larson's now drodgo Is rapidly near
ing completion and ho is making ar
rangements to begin operating it in
tho Beaver Slough district In about
two weeks. The banks of tho stream
aro bolng cut down so that tho
shovel will work all right. Tho
dredge will work as far as Coa
ledo. Henry Hewitt Here. Henry
Hewitt, Jr., of Tacoma, Wash., tho
principal owner of tho Coos Bay Gas
and Electric Light Company, arrived
in Marshflold last night for a brief
stay hero and to Inspect his proper
ties. Ho camo in via Roseburg with
General Manager Seymour II. Boll
who has been at Portland and Taco
ma on business matters. Ho

utes which Mr. Bolt considers go
